This week we have been reading about Alfie's World in English. The children also practised reporting on a given topic for 1 minute straight each. The children found this quite difficult to talk for a whole minute about a topic without notes, so we practised this several times and reviewed how to use bullet points to help when reporting on our topics. The children also had to focus on tone, hand gestures, pace and eye contact with our audience. This showed steady improvement as we continued this throughout the week.
In Math, the children have been working with decimals, fractions and percentages this week. I have been really happy to see great progress in their understanding. However, the children should continue to review these difficult topics and their times table/ division facts to help.
In SPHE, we have been working on Wellbeing using the 'Lust for Life' programme. The children meditated and used square breathing in this session. This will be a useful tool for them to pull out of their toolbox anytime they feel worried or overwhelmed. We considered the difference between things we enjoy vs things that actually calm down and relax our bodies.
In Religion, we have been learning about the Holy Week Path and the journey that Jesus took on this special week.
Wishing everyone a very safe & happy Easter and I look forward to seeing you all again after the break.
