New Junior Infants

As you prepare for your child to start school, there can be a mixture of excitement and nerves as they begin this new journey.

Starting school is a big step for parents and children, to help ease this transition, we have put together some hints, tips and fun activities to help prepare your child for school.

We hold a "Meet the Teacher" event prior to September.

Make sure that the school office has a current contact number and email address for you on our text/email system to ensure you stay updated with school events, messages, etc.

Our HSCL, Karen Dillon, can also be contacted by parents on 087 7921493.

We look forward to getting to know your child and working with you.

Before starting school, here are some tips to work on with your child,

  • Practice putting on and zipping up coats.
  • Velcro shoes are ideal for children before they can tie laces.
  • Encourage your child to carry their school bags to help them to be as independent as possible.
  • Practice opening and closing lunchboxes and drink bottles. Ensure they can open and close their own lunchbox and drinks.
  • There is a healthy eating policy in the school. If your child has a food allergy, please inform the school.
