Scoil Náisiúnta Eoin Baiste, Dundalk, Co. Louth

9th-13th March

13th Mar 2026

This has been an incredibly busy week in 5th class.

For oral language this week, we took part in a Mock Court Case Trial. The children were given roles such as: judge, clerk, lawyer, jury member, reporter, court sketch artist, witness, the accused and the owner of the stolen item. We took the court case very seriously and the children set the tone for the session. The court case was about a brand-new mountain bicycle which had been stolen by the accused from the Marshes in Dundalk. The children followed their scripts and used expression to state their facts. They defendant was found GUILTY in our mock trial and sentenced to a €2000 fine and community service. The children had great fun during the trial and did themselves proud.

In SESE, we have been learning about Robotics. The children had lots of questions about robots and the future of this technology. We weighed up the pros and cons of Robots too. They then worked in groups to create their own Robot to carry out a job in their house.

In Math, we have been learning about Decimals. (Tenths, Hundredths and Thousandths). The children have been changing fractions into decimals also.

We created some Art in preparation for St. Patrick's Day and Mother's Day too.

Wishing you all a fantastic long bank holiday weekend and a happy St. Patrick's Day for those of you celebrating. Also wishing a Happy Mother's Day to all of the mothers of our 5th class students this weekend too.
