17th Oct 2025
Junior Infants continued with our 'Once upon a Time' theme this week with the story of 'Goldilocks and the Three Bears'.
English
We started the week exploring our story sack which held clues about our new story. Inside were 3 bowls, porridge, a golden wig and a teddy bear. The children had lots of fun creating sound effects for different parts of the story using musical instruments and sequencing pictures of the story. We have looked at lots of rhyming words this week aswell as pre handwriting skills and correct pencil grip and posture.
Maths
It was Maths Week this week. The children created a colourful display of bears from our story and we had fun putting numbers on them.
We explored the number's 1,2 and 3 this week. The children made these amounts using lots of practical hands on resources as well as singing number songs including '1 Finger 1 Thumb keep moving' and 'Two Little Dickie Birds'. We 'met' the numbers using BBC Numberblocks videos. The children were very excited to have a go at writing the numbers on their whiteboards.
