Junior Infants 7th November
7th Nov 2025
Another super busy week in Junior Infants. Check out what we have been doing below.
English
Continuing on with our 'Once upon a Time' theme we read the story of the Gingerbread Man'. The children enjoyed joining in with reading different parts of the story and they did a fantastic job of sequencing pictures of the story in their copybooks.
The children were so excited to look at big Fairytale books with a partner this week. They saw lots of new characters and enjoyed discussing these with their friends.
The children started their Phonics lessons this week with the 's' sound. The children had fun making things that begin with this sound using playdough and also using gel pens and highlighters in our writing area to practice writing it. Have a go at singing the song at home this weekend
Maths
We explored putting numbers in order this week as well as counting forwards and backwards within 10 from different starting points. It would be so beneficial if you could practice this with your child at home. The children enjoyed practicing writing their numbers this week with our main emphasis being on number 1. Check out the song we have been listening to help us with this
Irish
We started our new topic of Bia (Food) this week. The children learned the names of foods they might find in their lunchbox and they also have been trying hard to follow simple directions in the classroom through Irish.
Religion
We have been learning our morning prayer this week as well as giving thanks to God for the wonderful things he has created in the natural world. The children enjoyed painting some beautiful pictures to reflect the things they enjoy most about nature.
Play
The children were using rolling pins and cookie dough cutters in their play this week to pretend they were making gingerbread men. They got out the toy animals to recreate the story as well as trying to rush the poor Gingerbread to hospital in a toy ambulance!
