Maths Week 🧮1️⃣2️⃣3️⃣

16th Oct 2025

➕6️Maths

This week we began looking at measuring. We have been measuring items using different things in our classroom such as paperclips, lolli pops sticks, cubes and match sticks. We have been estimating the lengths  first, and then finding out the correct measuremnts using our tools. We have been also been looking at 2D shapes - we used our 2D shapes to help us create Halloween pumpkins.

🎃

💚Irish

We have continued to look at 'An Scoil'. The children have been learning more phrases and learning more school commands as Gaeilge 😁 We can now follow instructions to open and close things through Irish, ask our partner to hand us things in Irish, and we are also learning to say please and thankyou.

📖English

This week we have continued to practice blending our sounds together to form a word. We have been revising our digraphs from senior infants, practiced writing our news and revised our blue tricky words. We are also now learning the names for the different letters aswell as the sounds that they make.

🌍SESE

We have continued looking at kindness and practicing showing kindness to each other in the classroom and in the yard. We looked at how many years ago, children used to play a game called conkers. We have gathered loads of conkers for our classroom and we had a go at playing the conkers game! We looked at some acticvities we can play on the school yard and learned some skipping and clapping songs.. 'A sailor went to sea sea sea....'

Music 🎵

We created a spooky Halloween soundscape and performed them for the class 👻

For PE, we learned how to play dodgeball 🥎

Fourth class were also kind enough to pop into senior infants to show us there pumpkins they made for Halloween 🎃🎃🎃
