Welcome back to all the parents & students of Scoil Eoin Baiste! This week the children spent a lot of time playing games and getting to know each other, as well as getting to know their teacher. We started our 'All About Me,' book which each of the children will get an opportunity to take home and add some special pictures and information about themselves.
English
In English, we started the week practising our oral language skills, we focused on using eye contact and thinking about our body language when having a conversation. We took turns talking about our topic of Space.
In reading this week, we read a story called 'Something Nasty in the Lifts.' The children worked really hard to understand the vocabulary used by drawing pictures to match the words. We also answered comprehension questions based on the text.
Math
For Math this week, we completed some mental math questions using division and multiplication. We also revised addition and subtraction with regrouping. The children worked really hard to remember to borrow from their number neighbour when needed.
Gaeilge
We have started our topic of Mé Féin in Irish. We are working on greeting one another and asking questions about each other, we used phrases such as 'Cad is ainm duit?' (What is your name?) agus 'Conas atá tú? (How are you?)
