Week 6: 6th - 10th October
9th Oct 2025
This week has been really busy and fun in Fifth class! In Math we have been working on estimating sums before using addition or subtraction to solve them. This was a challenging task but the children were so persistent in their efforts! Well done Fifth class :)
In Gaeilge, we are continuing to work on past tense verbs through games 'as gaeilge,' (in Irish). The children have enjoyed the competitive nature of the games and this is really helping them to remember their verbs.
For English this week we moved to a new theme of animals in our oral language, where we started to consider ways in which we should work with a partner or a small group. We discussed the importance of roles and time management. We have also been learning a story called 'The bear Cub.' We completed dictionary work to help with any new vocabulary in our story.
In Music, we learned an African song from Ghana - this was similar to the song head, shoulders, knees and toes. The song was really catchy and the children loved singing and dancing to it!
