Week ending 23.05.25 ๐Ÿฃ๐Ÿฆ†๐Ÿฆข

23rd May 2025
๐ŸฆขThis week we have been listening to and discussing the story of 'The Ugly Duckling'. We talked about how the ugly ducking felt when other characters told them that they didn't belong. But we really loved the ending when the ugly ducking had been a beautiful cygnet (or Swan baby) all along.

๐Ÿ”  we are learning the final sounds of our phonics for this year. /oi/ (like oil) and /ue/ (like fuel).

๐Ÿ’ฐ In Numeracy we have been learning about money. We looked at all the different coins and made coin rubbings of them. We identified the copper coins and sorted them in to groups of coppers and non coppers, and later in to 1c, 2c and 5c coins. We have started counting 1c coins and next week we will count and realise the value of 2c coins.

๐Ÿ’ We took a walk to our nearby church this week and identified areas of the church during a walk around the church grounds. We hope to repeat this walk again when the church is unlocked so we can see and discuss the inside of the church.  But we were able to honour St Mary during her special month of May by saying the Hail Mary, around a statue of Mary.

๐ŸŽ‚๐Ÿฅณ๐ŸŽ  We celebrated a birthday in class this week. A good friend of ours in is turning 5 on Monday. Happy Birthday! K brought in mini cupcakes ๐ŸŽ‚ and beautiful crayons ๐Ÿ– for all the boys and girls to celebrate his special day.
